How Appropriate....The Mom-okini

Perhaps it's the arctic blast and my deep desire to be on a tropical beach that had me thinking about bathing suits this morning.  So as the boys played nicely (for three seconds), I started my search...

The bikinis popped up first.  Adorable but not really in the "my belly button will never be the same after having kids" category.  The full pieces were....conservative.  And if I'm being honest, they sort of defied gravity.  I mean, chances are if you are looking for a full piece, you've been through the baby wringer and a spaghetti strapped, or worse, bandeau style one piece isn't really going to do much in the support category (ummm....fashion idea- strapless, waterproof bras... do these exist??  I digress).

While searching through all of the "remember when" bikini styles and shrugging at some of the one-pieces, I decided to search for a middle ground.  Something that wasn't ultra conservative but nothing too revealing either.  I searched for a monokini.

Shocked when the results came up empty, I looked to the search field and got a good chuckle when I realized what I had written :)  Freudian Slip for sure...

ICYMI- Dollar Store Ideas for Moms

Need to share this Buzz Feed list to all my fellow moms out there.  I absolutely love the "Caught You Doing Something Good" concept.  As much as I like to reinforce good behavior with enthusiastic cheering and encouragement, I know that the secret to good behavior success, for my kids, is a treat!

Hope you find some good ideas in here too!

Baby Foot Consensus.....

After a week and a half of experiencing the Baby Foot experience, the verdict is in.  Did my feet peel- yes....A LOT- note, this is definitely a winter activity- a friend mentioned she tried this in the summer and it was awful.

I didn't start with any crazy callouses so maybe I couldn't see the full effect of the gel.   What do you think?  Worth the pesky peeling for baby soft feet?  Check out my before and after pictures.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Verdict: Eh, not really worth it in my case.  But maybe worth it if you have substantial callousing and dryness?

Truth of Being A SAHM

I just read this article on Mom.me that highlights the truths of stay-at-home motherhood.  The article isn't very strong and if they really wanted to dig deep, I have a slew of "truths" to share.  While there weren't any profound "Oh my gosh, YES!" relatable moments, I did give a few head nods in agreement.

I also thought of several other "truths" that just never considered before I had kids.  One of which occurred to me as I was stirring my coffee alongside my toddler who was asking for chips for breakfast while sitting in a dirty diaper which immediately made me feel guilty- that I was choosing coffee over diaper changing.  I digress...

So what occurred to me while preparing my coffee was the fact that, as a SAHM every. single. meal. is prepared in my home.  Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner.  Repeat.

That is ABSOLUTELY shocking to a person who ate out daily in her pre-mom life.

Whether it was hopping out to get a salad for lunch or ordering take-out on my way home from the office or even stepping out for a coffee and afternoon snack, impromptu delicious food options were always readily available.

We occasionally eat out which is really fun if you enjoy the "bring-everything-out-as-it's- ready, who-can-eat-the-fastest, and GO! game" and every now and then when I'm burnt out from cooking I'll order delivery- but it feels indulgent some how.

BUT, the silver lining is that I definitely appreciate an adult-only dinner way more than I ever did before having kids.  Which is why it's absolutely fantastic that tonight is date night!!!

Taking Calls as a SAHM

A quick post to pray that my son, while at my gym's childcare, doesn't get upset or have a dirty diaper so that I can be on a half-hour call without having to hop off!  Stay tuned....

Oh...and my feet are STILL peeling!!

Baby Foot Day 6

Ok, I cannot show you another picture of my peely feet- I have some dignity!!  But they are, as promised, super peely!!

So my unofficial review of Baby Foot is a positive one.  But before I give it my final thumbs up, I need to wait out this exfoliation phase!

Step One- Baby Foot

Ok, so I finally tried my Baby Foot kit and while I realize peeling and results are not likely to happen for another 5-7 days, I figured I'd tell you about step one...

Easy- I rinsed and soaked my feet for 10 mins cut open the booties, wiggled my feet in and secured my boots with the provided adhesive.

The gel smelled like lavender and vodka!!

I settled in for an hour and let the gel go to work.

Here is me in my booties:

Here is a picture of my feet after an hour in the booties:
A little "soggy" looking...

And here is an image of my heel with some of the dryness I'd like to see peel away:

Stay tuned...
